TRIBUTES have been paid to two Royal Navy leading air engineering technicians who died in a horror crash.
LAET Callum ‘Gilly’ Gilbert, 23, and Daniel ‘Coxy’ Cox, 24, have been each killed in the collision between a Ford Fiesta and BMW.
Tributes have now flooded in for the pair following the tragedy on the A3083 close to Culdrose, Helston, on December 7.
Each technicians served with 820 Naval Air Squadron and have been based mostly at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose.
LAET Gilbert’s household mentioned: “Callum was a dearly liked son, grandson, nephew, brother to Megan and associate to Ellie.
“As a household, we are going to all miss him deeply and no phrases come shut to clarify our grief of shedding him. We now have so many fond reminiscences which we are going to now maintain onto carefully.


“Callum was a really outstanding, cheerful, sort, caring, considerate, gifted and loving younger man.
“He had a lot coronary heart and would lighten any room together with his smile, his presence and sense of humour. We will all miss him enormously and shall by no means ever neglect him.
“We’ll all love and miss you without end Callum – you’re one in one million, sleep tightly.”
Whereas LAET Cox’s household mentioned: “Dan was an impressive son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew and cousin who was devoted to his household.
“Like his, our lives have been shattered and can by no means be the identical once more.
“Dan was a really particular multi-talented younger man, taken from us far too quickly, each liked and deeply missed by so many.”
Their commanding officer, Captain Stuart Irwin, mentioned: “We’re all deeply saddened by the deaths of two of our folks.
“Before everything, my heartfelt condolences go to the households and family members who’ve been affected by this tragic occasion.
“These have been two vivid younger plane engineers who had already achieved a lot and served with distinction.
“At 820 Naval Air Squadron, throughout RNAS Culdrose, and in the broader group right here in west Cornwall – we’re all coming to phrases with their loss.”
LAET Gilbert and Cox had accomplished their coaching earlier this 12 months and helped preserve and restore the squadron’s Merlin Mk2 helicopters.
Police have been referred to as to the crash simply after 9.10pm on December 7.
The driving force of the BMW sustained a suspected damaged wrist and was taken to hospital.

“Each morning he’d be in my workplace asking: ‘what time are we doing rounds?’ and I’d suppose: I haven’t even had a cup of tea but and he desires to get out and begin work.”
